Some days (not that SomeDays) I just wonder what people are thinking when they write. Of course, there are probably some days that I could say the same about myself. But consider this headline: Teens who make virginity pledge get sexually transmitted disease at the same rate as those who don’t.
If you actually read the article, you’ll find that the problem is that those teens who make the pledge apparently don’t stick to it, and what’s worse is that they haven’t prepared, since they’re not supposed to be having sex, and they get caught.
Am I really the only one who sees the problem here? Rather than focusing the attention on the fact that teens who make such a pledge may get an STD as often as someone who doesn’t, wouldn’t it make sense to focus the attention instead on the fact that people don’t do what they say they would? Apparently not In Our World.

One response to “Lack of Commitment”
I agree. Between teaching “abstinence” and teaching “safe sex” it seems we for got all about “responsibility”.
Do you really think we’d be having a debate about gay marriage if “til death do us part” wasn’t such a freaking joke?
