One of the first things we noticed on our new TiVo was that it already had some shows recorded, in a group called TiVo Video Tours. Our first thought was that it was going to be something like the quasi-spam email that you get from Microsoft when you fire up Outlook. But our second thought was to check them out and see what they were like.
After all, at just a couple minutes each, watching all six of them took less than half of what we’d normally spend watching commercials during a normal one-hour show, and our TiVo has already easily saved us enough time that we can invest that in seeing what it can offer us.
And if the videos were really bad, we could always just delete the shows without even watching the rest of them. But after checking them out, they aren’t bad at all. There isn’t anything earth-shattering here, but if you want to get the basics, it’s worth giving them a look to see what you can do with your TiVo, without having to dive into all the menus – or at least to know which menus you’ll need.

The videos are actually pretty self-explanatory, so I won’t go into the details (let me know if you want to know more and I can do so). Spend a few minutes and check them out when you get your new box. It’s worth the effort.
While our first TiVo box was used, we can’t say for certain if it came with any such introductory videos pre-loaded – but we do know that these are new, as they contain shots of the new-look Dual Tuner box, so they can’t be as old as our original box, plus the advantages of the newer boxes are going to make it worth giving them a look.
Add that to the fact that some of these videos are already dated because of updated features such as the Recently Deleted folder, the Find Programs menu and the like, and even if you think you’ve known your TiVo, the newer intro videos are probably worth your while, just for a look-see at what it can offer you.
If you don’t have a TiVo and want to see what it can do, then it’s definitely worth giving them a look to see what you can do with the new addition to your family. And don’t forget to mention that you heard about your TiVo here (contact information in case you need to know what to do).
