The first challenge takes you to the Inside Passage, a shipping lane from Washington to Alaska. During the revolution, the British explorers described mystic totem poles in the Land of the Golden Spruce. Your task is to find the Golden Spruce and find the puzzle piece that exists there. Though you don’t get a whole lot of detail here, you don’t really need much either. Just know that this is the starting point for your adventure in the Treasure Hunters Challenge.
As with the Treasure Hunters show itself, the game is full of sponsors, but don’t let that detract from your experience. It can still be enjoyable. You just may want to ignore the sponsorships to some degree, because they can be a bit overwhelming at times.
You start on the dock of what appears to be a somewhat rickety fishing shack, overlooking what appears to be the Seattle harbor, and in front of you is a shovel, and steps down to another dock and a seaplane. A closed door to your right may allow access to the shack if it will open.
A raven sits on the edge of a trashcan on the dock in front of you, and a bottle is on the ground next to the trashcan. There does not appear to be any way to throw the bottle at the raven, but you can make the raven squawk by clicking on it. That’s about all I’ve been able to do with it, and it doesn’t seem relevant to anything.
- When you’re on the dock, make sure that you click the shovel, then click it again to store it in your pack.
- Click the door to open it, then click the open door to go inside.
- Click the watch, then click it again to store it in your pack.
- Click the drawer to open it and click the map.
- A message from Laird tells you to search for the location of the Golden Spruce, since you have no destination.
- Click on the phone to close it, which will open a search window for you, with your search already pre-populated.
- The result in the pop-up window tells you that the tree grew on the banks of a river in the Queen Charlotte Islands. That’s your destination.
- Click on the window to exit back to the dock.
- Click the plane to start your trip (you’ll pay with your Visa card).
- Scrawled on the map are the words Raven Lands at Noon. Make a note of this.
- Click on the Queen Charlotte Islands to land there.
- Once there, you can start digging, but you won’t be able to find anything until the right time. This is where the message Raven Lands at Noon comes in handy. Click the watch in the corner three times to advance it to noon, when the raven will land, and then when you dig you’ll find the answer for this week’s puzzle.
- You’re done!
That’s it for this week. Check back for next week’s challenge summary.

How do you start digging?
Thanks for the tips!
Well, it’s not really my sponsor (I wish!), but it’s nice when I end up at the top of results. If you search The Big G for Treasure Hunters Challenge, guess who shows up at #2? 🙂
Great game. Your sponsor “Ask.com” needs to get on the ball, though! A search on them produced nothing, whereas this page was the first to come up when I googled “land of the golden spruce”. I should get a prize for that, no?
