In the same vein as Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding, this show aims to make you part of the experience. We found that as part of the wedding party, you were made to feel a little more at home. While in both cases the cast members didn’t really step out of their roles, the cast of this show had a tendency to treat you like an audience rather than as a guest. It’s really a subtle difference, and perhaps others will have a different experience, but it just seems that the prior show had a more immersive experience.
That said, the show was a good one. The one flaw aside, this show seemed to pull the audience into it a bit more, with the audience being used in the telling of the tale a bit more, with a large percentage of the guests (including yours truly) being invited on stage to take on different personas in the telling of the tale. That aspect made it more enjoyable. As a result, I don’t think you can quite compare the two. They are just different.
As to the mystery aspect, I could take it or leave it. It was a pretty well told tale, but I’m not sure that it could have really been discovered by anyone, at least not in the way that it was done. Perhaps that is on purpose, perhaps not. Maybe I was just too caught up in eating. And speaking of eating, I enjoyed the food at this show a bit better than at the wedding performance. But again, perhaps that’s just me.
