Aruba Has Been Busy

No, not busy with solving crimes or anything useful like that. But in their credit-card processing department.

You see, we went to Aruba in June of 2004. For those keeping track, that is roughly 15 months ago. One of the last stops on the trip was at Iguana Joe’s for a bite to eat before heading to the airport for our flight home. You can also view their urinal if you are considering a trip yourself and just like to see that sort of thing in advance.

When we returned home, I faithfully recorded the credit card purchase in Microsoft Money and patiently watched as, day after day, month after month, it was never redeemed. The other purchases on the trip? No problem. But that Iguana Joe’s charge simply never came up. Then a month or two ago, figuring that it had been a year since it happened and I didn’t really think that contacting them to look for a year-old charge would amount to much other than a monster phone bill, I deleted it.

Lo and behold, the charge finally showed up on the credit card a few days ago. This has got to be some sort of record.

I’m not really concerned about it, as the amount is correct, and we did incur the bill after all. So I’ve got no problem paying it. I just have to wonder is all – do people really take this long to collect? I can under if it comes from perhaps Bonaire, or even Curacao maybe. But Aruba? It’s not like they are some backwater. And this place is right in the midst of the tourist area, not some locals-only hangout on a remote beach somewhere (if that’s even possible on Aruba. It’s just odd is all.
