Bloglines Toolkit 1.4.1

With the advent of a new release of Firefox, a new release of the toolkit is also required. You can get it now. For the handful of you that tested this change for me, the 1.4.1 version is no different from the 1.4a version you received directly from me – the only difference is the version number.

If you want that to change, then you can get the new version. If you don’t care, don’t worry about it – there is no functional difference. This version should work with versions of Firefox up to, and including, 1.0. But as the extension interface changes, the toolkit might need to change too. So even though the extension will load up to version 1.0, it may stop working somewhere along the way.

Beginning with this release, that link (to Bloglines_Toolkit.xpi) will always lead to the most recent release of the software. But prior versions will be available by including the version number in the link instead. Just add an underscore, along with the version number, to the end of “Bloglines_Toolkit” to get the name. For instance, this particular version will also be available at Bloglines_Toolkit_1.4.1.xpi, even after other versions are released. There should always be three numbers in the version number, so don’t forget the final zero. For toolkit versions prior to 1.0.0 (namely 0.9.0), include the preceding zero too (Bloglines_Toolkit_0.9.0.xpi). 0.9.0 is the earliest released version of the toolkit.

Update: Man, should have done another feature ransom on this one. The comments are coming in fast and furious… where are you people when the donate and wish list buttons are feeling all lonely? 🙂

True… bad wording on my part. Let them know is more like it, I guess. Taking into consideration business days and such, if it’s not up on Monday I’ll add my voice to requesting it be put up. 🙂

Unfortunately, I cannot “get” Bloglines to do anything. I sent Mark the new archive prior to posting this entry – or perhaps just after it. I’d assume that once he has the chance, he’ll post it. You may want to make a suggestion to him as well!

Are you going to get Bloglines to put up the new version on their download page?
