Bloglines Toolkit 1.2.0

I just received a call from USAirways, telling me that the flight was delayed for 70 minutes, so I decided to poke around with Firefox 0.9, now that it’s been released. Turns out most (all?) of the extensions that previously worked work no longer. I miss many.

Some, like Tabwarning, are now integrated into the app (functionality-wise, at least), so it’s not a big deal. Others, like the Googlebar, are sorely missed. So I’m keeping version 0.8 installed for the time being. But I digress.

I have already received a couple of complaints about the lack of support in the Bloglines Toolkit for 0.9, so I guess a couple of you must be using it. Sorry for the delay in getting around to updating the code. I probably shouldn’t have been waiting on something from my wish list. Kidding. Well, partially. I do spend a lot of time on things like the toolkit, and while I don’t expect to make a living from them, it is nice to know that people like and use the software. It’s even nicer to get gifts in the mail. Take that however you like.

In any case, I’ve updated the toolkit (to version 1.2). The jump in numbers is to catch up with Mark‘s numbering scheme. It’s also a reflection that things seem to be pretty stable. As always, let me know if you run into any problems – but you may want to keep a copy of the old version around just in case, as I’m not going to be available for a week. If you don’t have an old copy, you can use this one.

One word of warning – the uninstall ability, that received so much attention, and is allegedly the cause of the new extension format? It doesn’t work – at least not with the toolkit. It will remove the entry from the list of extensions, but the little blue icon will still be there.

I’m trying once again to use Bloglines Toolkit 1.2.

I have blown away all Firefox user data and the Firefox app itself, reinstalled from a fresh copy of Gecko/20040620 Firefox/0.9.0+ (nightly build), and re-downloaded the Bloglines Toolkit 1.2 from Bloglines.com. I’m still having the same issue where the extensions manager says that BT1.2 will be installed after restarting Firefox… but after restarting Firefox, it is not installed.

Again, this is on Windows XP Professional SP1.

I should note that I also had the same problem on my Mac OS X machine at home.

Could I be doing something wrong?

I fixed the mutant status bar by deleting my profile and starting again.

Bloglines toolkit 1.2; firefox 0.9; tabbrowser extensions 1.10.2004061401: The notifier icon shows up properly, and clicking on it takes me to my BL subscriptions, but clicking on any of the ‘new news’ links does not work. Uninstalling bloglines extension does not work. Any clues?

The open links in tab/window setting doesn’t appear to work.

I’m running Firefox 0.9 build 20040617 on Windows XP Professional. I am able to download and install the Bloglines Notifier for Mozilla/Firefox, but it never appears in Firefox. I have restarted Firefox several times, but every time I go to Tools -> Extensions, it still says that the Bloglines Toolkit will be installed after I restart Firefox. Ideas?

Cheers for this, works fine here on Firefox 0.9.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I can’t uninstall or disable it. I’ve even tried reinstalling Firefox, with no luck. :o(

Also, check here, and if there’s a home page link for any particular extension you want, check there, some extensions have been updated for 0.9 but not listed yet on the update.mozilla.org site.

Plus, alot of the 0.8 extensions do work – they won’t list properly on the Tools > Extensions list but they do install and work still.

Googlebar (and, indeed, all the extensions I use) has been updated to work with 0.9. Go to http://update.mozilla.org/ and get the version there.
