Engraved Pet Ornaments from Everlife Memorials »
As you know, we had to put our dog Ray to sleep not long ago. While this actually went really well, there are times that we miss him, and we wanted a memorial of sorts. While he is in the backyard (not stuffed and mounted or anything, he's been cremated and buried, and we're waiting on a marker for the spot), and we can say hello, it's just not quite the same as having him inside with us all the time. So we went looking.
One of the things that we found interesting was the idea of a Laser Engraved Glass Ornament, from Everlife Memorials. I'll admit that at first, an ornament on the tree for your pet that's been gone seemed a little odd, but after thinking on it for a bit, the idea really grew on me. Plus, it's not terribly expensive (just $39.00, and if you look under the Special Offer link in the sidebar, you might find that you can get a discount (when I did, there was an extra 10% off, but it's not there right now). So we ordered one. It just arrived.
The picture I chose was the one from Ray's New 'Do, as that's one of our favorites of him. He just looks so young and happy, which gives us good memories. Even though they ask for a high-resolution picture, and this one happened to be fairly low, they were able to manipulate it so that it would work for us. A few back-and-forth emails with Veronica (thanks Veronica!) and we had a proof that we were ready to use!
We were really happy with the way that the ornament turned out - as you can see, it's clear, which means you do need to get up fairly close to be able to see it, but that's really not a problem. And Veronica was very helpful in getting our picture just like we wanted it. They did have to move the picture around just a bit (so that Ray wouldn't have a hole in his head), and the aforementioned problem with the lack of resolution, but it all went very smoothly.
The only thing that was a little bit odd is that if you look at the ornament page, the image looks like it is colored - the dog that's on the ornament has a dark nose, and it really seems to be a picture on the ornament, where if you look at Ray's ornament here, you'll see that it's a clear ornament. I had to search for a suitable surface, where I could get the image to show up correctly. Took several tries. That's not a problem, I just wanted to point that out. It's still well worth it, and we're very happy with it - just wanted to be clear. Hmm. Maybe not the best choice of words for that. But you know what I mean!
