Kentucky Fried Chicken Review »
Now I'm not normally one to stop at a KFC. It's not that I'm above it, mind you - it's just that I don't really like fried chicken all that much. I don't really like bones. Which is odd, because back in the day, I really enjoyed chicken wings. I think it was probably the fact that I ate a ton of wings, while consuming a large amount of alcohol. But I digress.
Since breakfast didn't go too well, having stopped at Connie's Kitchen in Waynesville, and even the cookies we picked up for the ride weren't doing much, and we had spent the day out and about, we were looking for something more. Those of you who have kids know that there comes a time when it's just do or die, and sometimes you have to make a move. We decided we'd go for KFC, mostly because they had a buffet, and we figured it would at least make things snappy. Bad choice. Really bad choice.
The first problem was that the line was long. Not just one or two people, but maybe ten. For a buffet, when most of the people in line are ordering the buffet, you'd think it would move quickly. You'd be wrong. It was painful. This led to the second problem, which was the decision of withdrawal. You all know it. You've stopped, and made the effort to get out and go inside. Is it worth standing to wait and get it over with, or do you get everyone back in the car and go elsewhere, when the wait may be just as long? We waited. In retrospect, this was probably a bad choice.
Mostly because of reason number three. By standing and waiting, we actually were able to determine the prices of most items on the menu, so that by the time we sat down with our buffets, and realized that we weren't really all that hungry, we figured out that the KFC buffet is quite possibly one of the worst values in fast food (at least this one is). For the cost of the food we ate, we could have easily shaved $2 per person off the cost of our meal. Talk about making matters worse.
The service wasn't bad, it just wasn't what anyone would call good, by any stretch of the imagination, and the food, well, it was KFC. This isn't to say it was bad - it just wasn't outstanding. You can get it at thousands of places across the country. I just hope that your experience was better than this one.
