The Chateau Review (Walpole, MA 02081) »

We tried The Chateau early one evening in what would probably be called the "early bird" hour, and there were plenty of other people there as well (there were in fact several other diners there for the aptly-named special). Since we just stopped in for a quick bite, we didn't really have a full-blown meal, but we did try a few things.

The toasted ravioli was tasty, but as is the case with most ravioli, it was overpriced - you pay a lot for only a few pieces. That's not something unique to this place, by any means, and it was good. The pizza was excellent, perhaps the best I've had outside of Lombardi's Pizza (in Manhattan). That's some rare company. Light, crisp, plenty of garlic. Awesome.

The bread was also good, and the only disappointment was the dessert. It just wasn't that great. We had the ice cream cake roll, and while it was okay, the cake was too dry and the chocolate sauce just didn't mix well with the consistency, making for a rather messy concoction. Probably better to have just left well enough alone. But all-in-all, it wasn't bad.
