Island Blues Review »

Unlike St. Thomas, St. John doesn't have a huge number of places to eat. There are a few places in Cruz Bay and a few others in Coral Bay, and that's about it. So when we stumbled into Coral Bay (I speak metaphorically - we were driving), we stopped at the first place we found that was open - Island Blues.

This is actually a nice little place, right on the bay, everything that Duffy's Love Shack aspires to be. This isn't to slam Duffy's. They are what they are. But they aren't on the water.

Island Blues offers several specials, and I tried the quesadilla of the day, which was a sliced steak and cheddar that was quite tasty. The only complaint is that it was a bit too gooey. A quesadilla ought to be a bit firmer. Otherwise a taco may be a bit better format for eating. Meanwhile, Denise had a cheese steak sandwich, that was also quite tasty. As with every other place, the prices were higher than you'd see in the US, but not absurdly so for the islands themselves. Service was quite good.
