La Cocina Review (Charleston, SC 29412) »
As you're whizzing down Folly Road to the beach, it's easy to miss this small restaurant on the side of the road, especially during the day, but at night it gets pretty crowded. The collection of cars out front makes it a dead giveaway.
Their homemade hard taco shells are the best thing we had (the tacos inside the shells are good too), but the Shrimp Po-Burrito wasn't bad either. To get the full effect of wordplay off of a Shrimp Po-Boy, it should have contained fried shrimp rather than boiled, but it was decent.
The sweet tea had an odd taste - not in the sense that it had soured or anything, but that it was more of an Oriental tea rather than a traditional Southern style or something. It just tasted different than most sweet teas you'll find, especially in the area.
