Magic 8-Skull »
Today I came across a wonderful new, uh, thing. Standing at the counter at the local McDonald's, I saw their latest collection of toys for kids. One of them was simply amazing. Crammed into a pirate-themed skull (complete with do-rag and flip-up eye patch) was (what I believe to be) an octahedron (you can just make it out in the picture).
It's not quite a Magic 8-Ball - that was an icosahedron, with 20 sides (according to this page, anyway)! This only has 8 sides, but the answers are just as useful for most of us:
- Aye Captain
- Clear Sailing Ahead!
- Nay Scallywag
- No Way Arrrggh!
- The Seas Look Rough
- Walk the plank!
- Yes! Me Heartie!
- Yo Ho, maybe so!
If those eight answers don't get you anywhere you need in life, then perhaps you're doing something wrong. And if you need one of these babies for your very own, you can either try and get a nice cashier to give you one, or you can catch the meal during the right week or they will sell you one all by itself for $1.95 (plus tax).
