Bowen's Island Review »
Headed to Folly Beach, keep your eyes open for a slightly dated and heavily worn sign that points the way down a road that isn't all that well maintained (and then isn't maintained at all, and turns into a dirt road). At the end of this road it just turns into a parking lot and then you have arrived at the best seafood in the area.
The restaurant isn't much to look at, that's for sure, but the food is wonderful. Even the sides - fries and cornbread hush puppies - are excellent. The shrimp are large and lightly breaded, served on a disposable plate out on the deck (or inside if you're there in the cooler months). They have other food, too, depending on the catch that day, but don't miss the shrimp.
They would rate five stars if the place was a little nicer, but let's face it - if it was a little nicer, it just wouldn't be the same now, would it? If you have anyone in your party who cares about that sort of thing, send them around to the deck while you order (or you go around to the deck while they order), and wait patiently while they bring the food out to you. Enjoy the water as it flows by and marvel at the fact that you could be the only people for miles, as you can't see the road even though it's only a couple minutes away.
