Don't Back Down

Using Bloglines Publisher Tools »

At long last, Bloglines has rolled out their Publisher Tools, which allow you to do nifty things like claim your feeds. Essentially, you go to your account page and start the claim process, which gives you a couple of HTML comments that you need to insert into your site to make sure that you control the feed. The Bloglines verifies that you do indeed control it. Unfortunately they don't really tell you how to do it, so it takes a bit of trial and error.

It's not hard, it's just not terribly clear what you need to do. You need to take the first code and insert it into a post. That will, presumably, make its way into your feed. The second code you need to put into your site template. That is, not into the feed but into your actual site. Probably not into some site that is buried, but likely your index template. If you use Movable Type, this would be your Main Index Template. My guess is that Bloglines checks that.

Once you do, you click the right button (this is important) and that's it. You're done. You can mark feeds that are duplicates, and, well, that's pretty much it at the moment. But I'm sure there's lots more on the way.
