Don't Back Down

The Noho Star Review (New York, NY 10012) »

We went out with some relatives, and they recommended we try out a local place for dinner. They apparently knew what they were doing a bit better than we did. They had the meatloaf and the turkey schnitzel, both of which were pretty tasty. We had a Chinese chicken and rice dish (good, but a bit bland) and a bacon cheese burger (decent, but difficult to eat).

As an appetizer we had some wings, and those were, well, awful. About any wings anywhere are better. The service was horrible. We each tried a special drink, and those weren't good at all. Add all this together with some pretty hefty prices (even for Manhattan) and it's safe to say that we'll go somewhere else next time.

It's not that we're against paying for good food, as that's not it at all. But if it's going to be expensive, we like to get a good value, and this most definitely wasn't it. For starters good service would have been nice. Barely chilled tap water without ice wasn't a good start. Feeling like we were sitting on top of the number 6 train (it could have been different ones, I don't know) every two minutes didn't help. As I've seen said elsewhere, at least the bathrooms were clean.
