Golden Palace Restaurant Review (Charlotte, NC 28212) »
Since it appears that the King Buffet may have closed, we were suddenly without a place to eat. So we ran (well, we drove) down the street to the Golden Palace. This is an older establishment, and a bit hidden in a strip mall, but the food is pretty tasty and the price is right.
At least at lunch, they serve one of those bowls of fried crispy things that are great for dipping. Surely not heart-healthy, but if you want that, you probably don't want to be eating out anyway. We also ordered their Shrimp Toast appetizer, and it was interesting. It was like a small piece of shrimp combined somehow with a piece of toast and all fried together. The flavor was good, but it was a bit greasy.
We were actually served the egg roll that came with our meal before the appetizer arrived, but since it was part of the combination plate, I figured I'd include it afterwards. The egg roll was a bit hard. Again the flavor was good, it was just that the outside took some chewing.
I had the Crispy Orange Beef while Denise had the General's Chicken. Both were very flavorful and came with plenty of rice, and we each had enough to bring home with us. So much, in fact, that we had enough to re-heat for dinner. Though if you were really hungry you could probably easily go through it - we just weren't super hungry (so it's probably best that the buffet wasn't open).
