Patterson Farm Review (China Grove, NC 28023) »

I wasn't sure if Food is the most appropriate place to file this one, but what the heck. Seems good enough for now. After lunch at O'Charley's we headed out for some strawberry picking and to do that there's only one stop in the area, and that's Patterson Farm. As it turns out, they have blackberries, too, but those won't be ripe for another month or so, and they'll have tomatoes a bit later in the season as well, but right now it's strawberry season.

So we picked up our boxes and headed out to the fields. A short while later and we had two-and-a-half gallons of strawberries ready for washing. After we got home, cleaned, cut and packed them we ended up with 14 bags of sliced and diced strawberries, ready for the eating. Mmm, mmm.

But before we could do that, we cleaned up and had some fresh treats - I had a milkshake made with fresh strawberries (tasty, but they could have done a better job of mixing) and Denise had a strawberry shortcake, again made with fresh strawberries (better). Then we went to the petting zoo, which was much fun. The goats and pigs were quite entertaining, and oddly enough they loved to eat strawberries. Then we visited the play area as well before heading on home to do our cleaning. All in all an enjoyable afternoon. Highly recommended if you're in the area.

And if you don't like to pick them yourself, they have already picked ready for you, and you can still enjoy the other stuff too.
