Kabuto's Japanese Steak House Review (Charlotte, NC 28213) »

Though our kids tend to order a cheeseburger or chicken tenders off of the kids menu no matter where we go, they like the Japanese Steak House. Probably because they get distracted by the guy who tosses things around and sets stuff on fire so much that they forget that they aren't eating cheeseburgers and chicken tenders. I don't know, really, but it at least gets something a little different in them, so we can't complain.

The local chain probably won't stand up to a Benihana or anything, but we don't have one nearby anyway, so it doesn't really matter much. The food is pretty decent and the show is generally entertaining. You can never really tell if the chefs are so good that they can act like they don't know what they are doing or if they are just that clumsy.

Only one complaint is that this location has started serving spaghetti-like noodles on top of the fried rice, and they just don't mix all that well. It's not that they taste bad, as they don't. They just don't blend.

The food at this establishment is tasty, unfortunately that is the only compliment I can give it. The first time I dined here for lunch looking forward to the sushi but we find out they do not serve sushi at lunch which was the first disappointment. We got over it quickly and ordered hibachi which was tasty but our hibachi chef spoke to a latin american family the entire time in spanish which I find to be down right rude. Several months later we decide to return at dinner for sushi despite the horrible service we received last time, hoping for a better experience. We sit in the non hibachi area and waited at least 25 minutes before someone acknowledged our presence and took our order. Sushi was average, not worth waiting that long for and the fried calamari made both of us sick to our stomaches. Two terrible experiences in a row at one place. Bottom line, customer service is horrific and food not worth returning for.
