A Matter of Interpretation »
Yesterday I worked the Wuzzles in the local paper for the first time in a good bit. This was incidentally the first time I had received a paper copy in a while, actually.
Anyway, I came up with what I thought to be a pretty good answer for one of the puzzles, but it turns out I was wrong. Consider:
1. Dis
2. Dis
3. Dis
4. Dis
My answer, naturally, was "disarray". In other words, an array of "dis". It seems like a natural to me, but I realize that I'm probably more likely to see an array out of such an arrangement. Unfortunately, this wasn't the answer. Any guesses as to the correct one?
It turns out that the correct answer was "discount", which makes sense as well. Just not as much sense, apparently. Perhaps I will have better luck today.

If it were:
0. Dis
1. Dis
2. Dis
3. Dis
Disarray would be much more appropriate. I think I probably would've come up with the same answer you did anyway, though. :) Discount? Enh. A little weak if you ask me.

<grumble>
You're right, of course, about starting with a 0. But thanks for weighing in on my side anyway! :)

I don't suppose 'list of discovery' would be the answer they were looking for. I know, it's a bit trite with not entirely correct semantics... hehe. I suppose it could be better than disorder, though.
