Don't Back Down

Our newest gadget has arrived, an HP Officejet 7410 All-in-One. Now the printer is cool and all, but Amazon had it for a (relatively) massive $60 less than the local Office Depot, especially impressive when Amazon doesn't have sales tax and the price of the printer is well above their free shipping threshold, making for an easy savings of nearly $100.

Perhaps most amazing was that it arrived in somewhere around 24 hours, and I didn't order it overnight. Well, I did check to see the overnight shipping cost (somewhere in the neighborhood of $95), but once I did I switched back to the super saver shipping, as I figured we could wait. Shortly thereafter I received notice that the printer should ship on October 10th, and should arrive on October 13th.

A couple hours after that, i received an email that it should ship, and I could expect delivery on October 13th. Yesterday I went outside to buy some cookie dough from a neighbor and lo and behold, my new printer was sitting and waiting for me. I have no idea how long it had been there, but from order to arrival it couldn't have been more than 30 hours, and was probably much less.

Contrast this with some printer ink that I ordered on Friday and as of Sunday it still hadn't been shipped. This is actually to my favor, because I canceled the order - that ink was for the old printer.

The printer easily connected via wireless to our network, and I'm installing the software now - I hope to be using it shortly, and I'll post some information on the subject once I have a chance to run it through its paces.
