East Buffet and Grill Review (Charlotte, NC 28205) »
I ate lunch at the new East Buffet and Grill today. It's in the old Golden Corral building on Sharon Amity.
The atmosphere was nice. A big step up from the Golden Corral that used to be there. Not that there was anything wrong with that. We ate there several times. But a nice variety of food, spread well so that it isn't too cramped.
Interestingly, the standard Chinese buffet food is served in a very small section of the restaurant. The rest has more unusual sections, such as a rotisserie (serving both chicken and duck - at lunch!), a number of appetizers, a sushi bar (complete with sushi chef), a noodle bar with at least five different types of noodles, and even a handful of your good old Southern foods, such as macaroni and cheese and French fries.
They also had what appeared to be an excellent selection of fresh fruit and a variety of salads. For those of you who need it at a Chinese buffet, the ubiquitous soft-serve ice cream machine is down the aisle towards the dessert section. All-in-all, not a bad change from the Golden Corral, and a definite step up from the abandoned building.

Any resturant that has self-serve soft-serve ice cream is a winnner in my book. Here in South Jersey they call it frozen custard. No matter where you are in in South Jersey, you're likely no more that three miles from a custard stand.
