Accounting Fun with Microsoft »

Since I just mentioned Microsoft Money, I figured I would poke around their site to see what's new in the product. In the process, I found my way to this page, where it explains some of the management features of the Small Business product.

Imagine my surprise when I found that one of the items on this tab reads: Manage accounts receivable. The Money Bill Calendar allows you to pay multiple bills from multiple checking accounts all at once, making payment even easier. Schedule payments in advance and quickly view upcoming bills. It's a great way to organize your cashflow and take advantage of early payment incentives.

Now I know Microsoft likes to redefine things to fit their world view, and for the most part, that's okay. But since when did accounts receivable involve your business writing checks?

I'm sure it's just a typo, but that's a pretty big one, I'd think. Surely someone, somewhere in the gigantic corporate machine that is Microsoft could realize that writing checks isn't receiving money, it's paying money. Come on now, Microsofties, let's get with it!

That looks like a typo to me. It should read Accounts Payable.
