Commenting Badness »
So it seems that everything works pretty well - except for the comments. I think the process in general is okay, but the actual posting takes forever (okay, 10 seconds or so). The problem is that this causes timeouts, and errors messages, and duplicate postings, and all sorts of nonsense that I'd rather do without. I've traced this problem to the build of the archive page. For the time being, I've turned off the rebuild of this page, and it drastically sped up the rebuild time, so the commenting process works quite well. Now I just need to rework some things on that page so that it can be up-to-date as well...
Update: It looks like the archive page is updated, and building dynamically as desired. I'll work on the code and make it available on the company site soon. Keep your eyes open.

Yesterday when I posted a comment it took forever and I eventually got an error. I do see that the comment went through. I'll see if it is better with this posting.

Same thing on the above posting. After posting, I was taken to a blank page. Along the bottom I could see Done with what looked like an error icon next to it.
Nothing ever populated in the box. After a minute I closed the boxed, refreshed the page, and saw that the posting took.

Reb, in that case it sounds like perhaps your Javascript functions are at least resticted, if not turned off entirely. The posting process uses Javascript, so if that's the case, the window won't close and the page won't refresh. I'll see if I can put together a page that will explain the process if that's the case.

Chad,
So it's the settings on my local machine that's causing the problems? Keep me posted and advise what I need to do.
By the way, both of my blogs are working well, thanks to you.

I experienced that same as Reb. When I posted I got a blank comment screen. Also, is there any way for comments to remember me. It's a bit of a pain to always have to retype all that stuff. I know I'm just too lazy for my own good, but computers are supposed to eliminate redundant tasks.

I plan on taking care of browsers that have issues with the posting process this week, and at the same time I'll initiate a "remember me" function. I never use it, so I had taken it out a while back. It won't take too long to add back in, however, and shouldn't be difficult to do.
