Taxes on the Rise »
While I noticed the other day that Charlotte was raising taxes, I must admit I didn't pay much attention. The event is billed as the first rate increase in 19 years. So what?
First, Charlotte doesn't raise the rate because they inflate the property values. That way you think you're getting rich, when in reality you are anchored ever-deeper to their system, and they can simply collect higher amounts of revenue.
Of course, that becomes an issue when they still don't have enough revenue. Then they have to raise the rate on those higher values so that they can collect even more money. Others have said it better than I can. Surely someday we will wake up and realize just how much this sort of ridiculous governing is costing us, yes?
