Don't Back Down

Hardcore Phishing »

I received a spam (actually, probably more than one) the other day that linked me to a Regions Bank site, whereupon I needed to enter my account information. Interestingly enough, I don't have an account at Regions Bank. To say the least, my suspicion was raised.

Once that happened, I figured I would poke around. The next thing to catch my eye was that the link wasn't to regionsbank.com (or something similar), but to a bare IP address. You'd think they could take care of that, wouldn't you?

Still, I continued my investigation. To further complicate matters, many of the links on the page (privacy and such) went to what appear to be actual regionsbank.com pages. It seems that these folks are getting more serious in their efforts to steal your information. Be careful out there.

Incidentally, the site doesn't seem to be responding any longer.

Fast Food Gloves are Useless »

Apparently using gloves with fast food is only useful in keeping up appearances. Like they needed to tell us that. I wonder if they had a grant or something for this sort of study. I could have given them the same results in an afternoon of visiting fast food restaurants in Charlotte. The problem isn't the hands. It's that the person wearing the gloves never changes them. They sneeze, smoke and use the bathroom - all wearing the same pair. How is that supposed to help anything?
