Spring Cleaning »
So I'm a little late. Sue me.
Today I've been cleaning up the links on the site.
The first change was to point all my links to a submdomain, rather than to the subfolder. This is because my current host actually has a stable platform, and the subdomains seem to work reliably. My old host, well, didn't, so while I configured the subdomains, I never really tried to push them. Now that the feature works, and works reliably, I'm going to use them - I think it makes for a cleaner look.
This doesn't mean much to you, except you should see links beginning with http://cxliv.org/ (instead of http://www.cxliv.org/jayseae/). There is no difference between the two, and you can still use the old method - it will just take you to the new format when you use the old naming convention. I think I have everything set correctly, but please let me know if you run into any problems with this.
I also went through and cleaned up a bunch of links to the local paper. When I started linking to them, their site was registration-free. Not long thereafter, they started requiring a registration. Even though this didn't cost anything, I know I hate it when people send me to links and I have to register, so I didn't want you to have to do the same. Luckily, the local paper is a part of a large company, and it appears that all of the outlets have access to all of the other outlets data - but only the 'publishing' facility requires login. So now you go somewhere else and don't have to register. But some of the old links still pointed to the old site, and I wanted to clean that up. If you notice any problems with these links, please let me know.
On another note, it looks like I'll be attending the BlogOn 2004 conference in Berkeley in a couple of weeks. Anyone who's going to be there, or lives in the area, drop me a line - perhaps we can make plans to get together.
