Bloglines Toolkit 1.2.0 »
I just received a call from USAirways, telling me that the flight was delayed for 70 minutes, so I decided to poke around with Firefox 0.9, now that it's been released. Turns out most (all?) of the extensions that previously worked work no longer. I miss many.
Some, like Tabwarning, are now integrated into the app (functionality-wise, at least), so it's not a big deal. Others, like the Googlebar, are sorely missed. So I'm keeping version 0.8 installed for the time being. But I digress.
I have already received a couple of complaints about the lack of support in the Bloglines Toolkit for 0.9, so I guess a couple of you must be using it. Sorry for the delay in getting around to updating the code. I probably shouldn't have been waiting on something from my wish list. Kidding. Well, partially. I do spend a lot of time on things like the toolkit, and while I don't expect to make a living from them, it is nice to know that people like and use the software. It's even nicer to get gifts in the mail. Take that however you like.
In any case, I've updated the toolkit (to version 1.2). The jump in numbers is to catch up with Mark's numbering scheme. It's also a reflection that things seem to be pretty stable. As always, let me know if you run into any problems - but you may want to keep a copy of the old version around just in case, as I'm not going to be available for a week. If you don't have an old copy, you can use this one.
One word of warning - the uninstall ability, that received so much attention, and is allegedly the cause of the new extension format? It doesn't work - at least not with the toolkit. It will remove the entry from the list of extensions, but the little blue icon will still be there.

Googlebar (and, indeed, all the extensions I use) has been updated to work with 0.9. Go to http://update.mozilla.org/ and get the version there.

Also, check here, and if there's a home page link for any particular extension you want, check there, some extensions have been updated for 0.9 but not listed yet on the update.mozilla.org site.
Plus, alot of the 0.8 extensions do work - they won't list properly on the Tools > Extensions list but they do install and work still.

Nasty bug in the bloglines notifier.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I can't uninstall or disable it. I've even tried reinstalling Firefox, with no luck. :o(

Cheers for this, works fine here on Firefox 0.9.

I'm running Firefox 0.9 build 20040617 on Windows XP Professional. I am able to download and install the Bloglines Notifier for Mozilla/Firefox, but it never appears in Firefox. I have restarted Firefox several times, but every time I go to Tools -> Extensions, it still says that the Bloglines Toolkit will be installed after I restart Firefox. Ideas?

The open links in tab/window setting doesn't appear to work.

Bloglines toolkit 1.2; firefox 0.9; tabbrowser extensions 1.10.2004061401: The notifier icon shows up properly, and clicking on it takes me to my BL subscriptions, but clicking on any of the 'new news' links does not work. Uninstalling bloglines extension does not work. Any clues?

I fixed the mutant status bar by deleting my profile and starting again.

I'm trying once again to use Bloglines Toolkit 1.2.
I have blown away all Firefox user data and the Firefox app itself, reinstalled from a fresh copy of Gecko/20040620 Firefox/0.9.0+ (nightly build), and re-downloaded the Bloglines Toolkit 1.2 from Bloglines.com. I'm still having the same issue where the extensions manager says that BT1.2 will be installed after restarting Firefox... but after restarting Firefox, it is not installed.
Again, this is on Windows XP Professional SP1.
I should note that I also had the same problem on my Mac OS X machine at home.
Could I be doing something wrong?

Oops, just re-read your post and saw that you wouldn't be available for a week... both of my previous posts were made after June 17, so I apologize for the impatient tone. :-)

Thanks for the links, Rob and Stephanie. They got me most of the way there. Had to go looking for Clone Window, as it's not listed (current version does appear to work with 0.9).
Couldn't find an up-to-date version of EditCSS or FlashBlock, but I'm still looking around...
For those having problems, hang in there - I'm trying to get caught up, and then I'll try and see what I can do to figure out what's going on.

I had the same problem that after installing the extension, the icon didn't appear. What I did, was to disble all my extensions and re-enable only the bloglines extension. It looks to me like the adblock extension was hiding the bloglines icon on the bottom right of the window.

I use bloglines and adblock together with no problems.

Okay, a couple of comments:
It looks like the adblock extension may affect the icon positioning. If so, it appears that you can get around this by disabling all your extentions and restarting. Then enable the toolkit and restart. Then enable the remainder of the extensions.
As to the link options, they only affect the notifier links - clicking on the icon in the statusbar or the items in the context menu. Sorry, I can't easily do anything about the links on a Bloglines (or other page), but there are extensions to handle that.
The final problem appears as if it may be related to the use of a daily (development) build rather than the release version. I'm testing with this to see if I can make the toolkit work in either environment. If you use one of the daily builds since 0.9 came out, I should have an answer for you shortly.
Thanks for all the great feedback!
