More Charlotte Elections »

That's right, folks, it's nearly time for more Charlotte election mania. Don't forget to vote on Tuesday, November 4th. If you're still not sure what's happening on the local election scene, check out the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections site. You'll find it surprisingly useful.

I'd recommend starting with the 2003 Candidates List, but there's plenty of other information available that may prove useful. You can even access personalized information including your voting history, a list of candidates for which you can vote and even locate your polling place. At least, you used to be able to. Can't tell if you can any longer. The colors on the personalized information are a bit wacky (red on blue), but the information is good!

Okay, I draw the line on this one! Voting is supposed to be a very personal, private thing. I can look up anybody on here and see who voted for who. That is not right! I don't mind them showing the party that person is registered for but I do mind them showing the exact votes of the each person. If it is not supposed to be private then why are there booths?

Actually, that's a good point - but the history only shows when you voted (and where), not the detail of who you voted for at that time. :)
