Don't Back Down

Adding Another Link »

I took the plunge and created an Amazon.com wish list this weekend. I've since updated it a few times. Man, there is a lot of stuff I want. Especially if someone else is paying for it. And after all, that is what a wish list is for, is it not?

Up until now, I've been using a different wish list, the one at thethingsiwant.com. I like this list a little bit better because I get to provide the link to the site. I typically use something like pricegrabber.com, as that often results in a lower price for the product, and you can still purchase from Amazon if you'd really like to do so.

The problem I ran into is that I wanted to make this link available for the public at large, and I mean no offense, but I don't exactly want to broadcast my address to everyone on the Internet. Not that it's all that difficult to find or anything, but I just felt like I'd rather not have it published.

So anyway, the Amazon wish list provides this feature. They look at my profile and get my shipping information, but they don't provide it to just anyone who might wander by. The best of both worlds. Of course, I lost out on the ability to provide a comparison shopping link, and I also lose the ability to link to products that aren't sold on Amazon (various shareware titles, for instance). But I figured that was a tradeoff that was worth it.

Now that I have a wish list available here, to explain. This does not in any way mean that your patronage of said list is required in order to read the site. Doesn't even mean you must donate something to the cause if you were interested in one of the plugins I've written, or helped in some other way. However, if you've received some entertainment value from the site, or find some help I've given or plugin I've written to be indispensable, and would like to return the favor in some way, then by all means, check the list.
