Don't Back Down

Geek Weakly »

This week, we've got DHTML Lemmings! Now this is impressive - the game Lemmings, apparently in its entirety, all online in your browser. Damn. In case you haven't played the original in a while (and who has?), you can find walkthroughs and other tips at The Lemmings Compendium. No longer updated, but still online. Thanks to rOD Begbie for the links.

Each week brings us even closer to the advent of International Talk Like a Pirate Day, now just under a month away. Make sure you're prepared! In case you're not sure how to talk like a Pirate, there is help available. If you've got the time (and what good geek doesn't have the time for this kind of thing?), there are plenty of sites with even more good information on talking like a pirate.

If you're not sure you are quite ready to talk like a pirate, you can at least take your own personal Pirate Personality Inventory to see if you're up to the task of being a pirate! My rating? Why, The Cap'n of course! Cap'n Crash is me name!

If you're tired of the whole pirate theme, have no fear - there are other things to do on the Internet! This week, we've got an IQ test that is actually pretty cool. Beware of spam-sending services though (make sure to uncheck those boxes!). Turns out that I'm a Visual Mathematician: This means you are gifted at spotting patterns. This and your overall high intelligence make you good at understanding the big picture. How sweet - it's like getting a quality fortune cookie!

And if you like a little fantasy, you just don't dig the pirate thing, you can generate your Star Wars name. I'm Jasev Hy'Gen and this is my wife Denev Un'Sal - glad to meet you!

Now something for the creative-types out there. The online Hero Machine allows you to create fantasy characters, superheros or sports figures using different body styles, hair, headgear, leggings, boots, gloves, etc. Just about anything you could want - even different backgrounds and companions! Black and white or you can add color. Very cool stuff. I wonder where people come up with these things?

Until next week...

The Cap'n Denev Un'Sal
