You're all probably familiar with the Roomba robot vacuum. You may have even heard of the Robomower robotic law mower. But have you heard about the Centibot project? This crew of 100 robots is aiming to show that they can map, track and guard as a team. In case you're still not impressed, how about the coming of the robot messiah? Okay, that might not have happened yet - but there is a robot that walks on water!
Enough about robots. Let's move up the food chain a bit, to monkeys. Chimps. Apes. Primates. What have you. I don't even know how to sell this next link, so I'll just give it to you. You apparently read that correctly. Primate Programming, Inc. To me, it sounds like an April Fool's Joke from The Motley Fool. I just report this stuff. I don't invent it.
One persistent rumor about monkeys is that if you sat an infinite number of them at an infinite number of typewriters, they'd eventually produce the works of Shakespeare. This may or may not be true, but now you can be a part of the project that finds out! That's right, the Monkey Shakespeare Simulator has arrived in a browser near you. Current record: 6 letters. My personal best: 4 letters. These guys in England had even worse luck, and may want to stick with the virtual version. Or at least buy some extra keyboards.
From primates to pirates - what's a missing letter and a slightly different arrangement between friends? In continued preparation for International Talk Like a Pirate Day, now just over a month away, we have the Pirate Name Quiz. That's right - a few short questions and you'll discover your very own pirate name!
My name? I'm Mad Jack Bonney: Every pirate is a little bit crazy. You, though, are more than just a little bit. You can be a little bit unpredictable, but a pirate's life is far from full of certainties, so that fits in pretty well. Arr! The wife? She's Dread Pirate Cash. Aren't they all?
Close enough.
