Palm has announced the Tungsten T2.
Sony has announced the the PEG-UX40 and PEG-UX50.
Handspring has announced their latest PDA/phone combo, the Treo 600.
SprintPCS appears near to finally releasing the long-rumored SonyEricsson T608.
If you're interested in the latest dirt about the T608, take a look at the T608 Users site. Who knows - maybe Sprint will drop another ball, like they did with the Kyocera 7135. This site should be the first to know.
PDAs and phones let you take your computer with you. Even in your car, though that is sometimes frowned upon by states and other drivers. Have no fear, the carputer is here! While it only has 128MB of RAM, it sports a 15GB hard drive, built-in GPS and you've even got two PC Card slots for expansion. Link courtesy Slashdot. Thanks to Tony Sumrall for pointing out that this product is discontinued. Instead, check out this model.
How about just regular old travel? On land? On water? In one vehicle? The Terrawind Amphibious RV (courtesy Slashdot) seems to promise that very thing. If you're not in the market for as much style, check out the amphibious Hydra-Terra. Not as pretty, but they sure seem tough!
Let's head somewhere else. How about the moon? Specifically, how about backing up your data on the moon? Seems that the latency might be a bit tough to overcome.
On a much smaller scale, the Cantenna (courtesy Slashdot) may help you with those pesky wireless networks that don't want to give you the range you need. Why buy a can of potato chips when you can invest in this sleekly designed, engineered tube that was built for that very purpose? Well, no chips. But other than that?
In the web design department, some great news about fonts. Having trouble on your web page? Want that unique look that can only come from a font that can only be described as "yours"? How about Times New Roman? Yes, you read that right. Amazing what you can do with the old standards when you apply a little thought (and a lot of CSS!) to them.
In case you're wondering when you'll have time to enjoy all this stuff, have no fear. Seems that automated services may be on the rise. Here, a story about a theater without a human staff. No mention of how concessions work. In addition, seems that we may not be all that far from an entirely robotic future.
