Geek Weakly »
Here we are, with the first edition of Geek Weakly. Perhaps it should be better named Geek Weekly, but hey. Let's perpetuate that stereotype. Geek Weakly will be delivered periodically (hopefully each week), bringing you all sorts of information and news most likely to appeal to those who have (or would like) a little geek in them.
Speaking of the latter category, my wife Denise brings us the first item, mostly because of the title. That's right folks, are you ready for little robots in your pants? The story, while amusing, is no match for the title.
Now for something only a geek could love. Why not examine a popular book, and in that book, replace every occurrence of one word with another? Seems like something quite geek-like, and indeed it could be very interesting. First stop? Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The replacement? Instead of WAND, we'll be using WANG. In PDA news, we see that Sony continues to push the envelope with the newest addition to the Clie line, the PEG-UX50. Now if they'd just stop using that Memory Stick and give us a regular old Compact Flash, or even SDIO, card slot, I think I could use one of these things.
Lest you think that geeks have no fun, make sure you check out the Pirate Keyboard. Just what is needed by every jolly geek to be found. And in case you aren't sure when you can be a pirate, be on the lookout for Talk Like a Pirate Day, coming soon to a date near you (September 19).
Looking to obscure your email address when creating your web site, so those unscrupulous types won't harvest your email address? Look no further than this tidbit of JavaScript, coming to us direct from the latest edition of the Lockergnome Webmaster Weekly.
I think that about wraps it up for this edition. Until next time...
